Public decisions prior to this date may be found on the College website.
  • Announcement of disciplinary decision:

  • An investigation by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) was conducted into whether Dr. Madu engaged in professional misconduct and/or was incompetent in his obstetrics and gynecology practice. As a result of that investigation, Dr. Madu has entered agreements with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia that he will not advertise or hold himself out to be a high-risk obstetrician or provide care to obstetrical patients beyond 28 weeks gestation until and unless certain conditions have been met. The full agreement with the College, including the requirement for Dr. Madu to post a sign in the waiting and examination rooms of all Practice Locations advising of practice restrictions, is set out in the Undertaking below:
  • Will notify the College of intent to provide services in any other language prior to providing any such services.
  • Will not provide care to obstetrical patients beyond 28 weeks without active admitting privileges at a Nova Scotia hospital that provides complete obstetrical services.
  • Will inform the College of each and every location of practice, or where privileges are held, in any jurisdiction, and will provide notice at least 14 days in advance of commencing practice at all new locations.
  • Will submit to, and not interfere with, unannounced inspections of practice locations and patient charts by a College representative.
  • Will notify the College in advance of intent to practice in Nova Scotia, whether in-person or virtually.
  • Shall post a sign in all waiting and examination rooms stating “Dr. Madu does not provide care to obstetrical patients beyond 28 weeks gestation. Further information may be found on the College of Physicians and Surgeons website at www.cpsns.ns.ca” so long as these conditions apply. Will post a certified translation of this sign in any language in which services are provided.
  • Will not advertise or otherwise present as a high-risk obstetrician unless and until certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as a subspecialist in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
